With black hair and black eyes, dressed in simple casual clothing, Liu Snian was now fully aware of his situation. He realized that the blood on him was not his own; a thick tentacle lay on the ground, and the source of the blood was clear. He had survived; he was not dead.
Blais, overwhelmed with joy, stood slowly with the help of Abel, repeatedly expressing his gratitude to Liu Snian. “Thank you, Lord Demon, for saving my life. I cannot thank you enough.” If Liu Snian hadn’t stopped him, he might have knelt right there.
There were quite a few warriors who had entered the Uya District alongside Abel, and someone immediately rushed to embrace Blais, nervously checking his injuries. “You, tough guy, you’ve been missing for days! We thought you…”
“Fortunately, Lord Demon arrived just in time; we were lucky,” someone chimed in.
“His power is truly remarkable! I didn’t see anything clearly; it was like blinking, and that monster’s tentacle flew out three meters!” another exclaimed.
“Really, really! The Ice Toad Centipede was so frightened, it burrowed underground to escape. We have a chance now!” The mood among everyone was exceedingly high after saving someone as soon as they entered the Uya District, and they couldn’t help but cast admiring glances at Liu Snian.
Abel hastily handed Blais a band-aid, signaling to the others to take him outside for proper care. There were still many people like Blais in the Uya District who hadn’t evacuated, including some civilians. The evacuation had been too chaotic, and not everyone had managed to leave.
Many were still hiding in their homes, which was why the kill team kept sending people to rescue them. Unfortunately, almost no one could deal significant damage to the Ice Toad Centipede, resulting in many casualties.
From a distance came a faint scream, and before Abel could react, Liu Snian was already heading straight for that direction. Rong Qing followed closely behind him, his presence faint yet impossible to ignore.
Within seconds, they reached the source of the sound—a dilapidated house that looked precarious. A little girl, about seven or eight years old, was shivering, curled up beneath a wooden bed. In front of her was the Ice Toad Centipede, its massive body covered in thrashing tentacles, exuding an icy chill that sent shivers through both Liu Snian and Abel as they stood in close proximity.
Seeing this, Abel furrowed his brow tightly. This situation was dire; any movement could potentially harm the little girl. He turned to look at Liu Snian, standing behind him, and his confidence returned. But for Lord Demon, this was surely not a challenge.
His feelings were a complex mix of anxiety and reassurance. Liu Snian was unaware of Abel’s inner turmoil; he merely frowned and let a small flame ignite from his fingertips. The flame was a deep blue, dazzling like a blue whale, radiating an overwhelming aura that seemed to hold immense power. The scorching heat was palpable even before Abel could approach.
Stepping back slightly, Abel felt more at ease. This was the first time they truly witnessed Lord Demon take action; the previous time had been obscured by dark mist, hardly clear at all. Now, they couldn’t help but silently marvel. Truly, how powerful he was, even more so than a deity!
The Ice Toad Centipede was disturbed, having masqueraded as the God of Light for so long; it was highly intelligent. On the spot, it reached out a tentacle to ensnare the little girl, openly threatening Liu Snian.
The frightened girl cried louder, her innocent voice filled with terror making Abel’s pupils constrict instinctively as he muttered a curse.
Liu Snian observed the Ice Toad Centipede for a long while, and in his mind, he heard Rong Qing’s voice. “Master, you take action. I’ll handle the child.”
He nodded, slightly turning to Abel and said, “Step back.”
Before his words even ended, the flame at his fingertips flicked, and upon touching the surrounding debris, it suddenly erupted with ferocity. Flames surged forth, vast and mighty, akin to the strike of a poisonous serpent, releasing waves of scorching intensity and cracking sounds.
Thick white smoke engulfed the room, obscuring vision completely. Abel and the others retreated at least ten meters to ensure they wouldn’t be caught in the chaos.
Rong Qing also leaped into action. As Liu Snian unleashed the flames, he joined the fray, moving into the blaze with remarkable speed. In the blink of an eye, Abel had lost sight of him.
Simultaneously, the once-crying sound within the house vanished.
Though Abel had confidence in Lord Demon’s strength, he couldn’t shake off his worries. The heat ahead was staggering; it was nearly impossible to get close. At such a temperature, a normal person could not survive, let alone a seven or eight-year-old girl.
Everyone’s hearts were tense with anticipation. They joined the kill team to protect their loved ones and their home. Now, they prayed within, pleading for Lord Demon to defeat the Ice Toad Centipede and save the child.
Behind each warrior stood their wives and parents; they could not retreat. Otherwise, it would mean the loss of their dearest ones.
The blazing fire before them symbolized hope, illuminating the darkened sky. The flames danced wildly in the wind, seemingly ready to engulf everything. Although it appeared eerie in its ghostly blue hue, it was like the last trace of sunlight left on the continent, crystallizing hope within everyone’s hearts.
A pungent smoke wafted through the air, saturating it. Gloomy clouds spread wide, burning everything away, ushering in a new vitality.
